Whiskas celebrates Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
Did you know that the week of 5 – 11 November was Animal Shelter Appreciation Week? During this week, we were encouraged to take some time to thank animal shelters across the country for their tireless work to house, rehabilitate and care for animals, and improve the lives of the cats and kittens homed at these shelters.
Whiskas heeded the call and donated 3 tonnes of cat food to animal shelters in Gauteng, the handover of the food – which took place at 4Paws Animal Shelter – was distributed amongst the shelters, including Kitty and Puppy Haven, FORA, Angels Refuge, Cataholics, CO-SANC and Catzrus Animal Shelter.
Speaking at the handover, Tammy Price from 4Paws said, ‘We’d like to thank Whiskas for the generous assistance and food donations, which will go a long way in helping us take care of our pets and in turn show our appreciation for them. Whiskas’s donation ensures we are able to care for a great number of cats who would otherwise have led very different lives.’
Nivashnee Moodley, Whiskas Brand Manager, commenting on the handover said, ‘For Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, we wanted to connect in a meaningful way and bring the Whiskas brand values to life – that all cats deserve to live a healthy and happy life. We are so pleased that we were able to donate food to these shelters because they show such kindness to animals on a daily basis and really deserve as much help as they can get from the community.’
If you want to show your appreciation too, Whiskas encourages you to donate anything you can to a shelter near you – whether it be money, food, blankets, toys, collars or bowls – because every little bit is appreciated and can help a shelter.
