Top marketers and academics will share key insights at this year’s AMC Conference
Speakers at the upcoming African Marketing Confederation’s (AMC’s) third annual conference include professionals with multiple years of experience, as well as a leading academic in the marketing field.
The conference will be held at the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa between 25 and 27 September along with the Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) Conference as well as the Marketing Society of Kenya’s symposium. These events will bring together a tangible showcase of how ICT can help drive marketing strategies through the best use of data, business intelligence and machine learning.
Globally recognised visionary in modern marketing, Hermawan Kartajaya, will be opening the plenary event for both conferences. He is renowned for his collaboration with Philip Kotler, the Father of Modern Marketing, in co-authoring twelve influential books since 1998. As the Founder and Chair of MCorp, Southeast Asia’s leading professional services firm in marketing consulting, research and training, and the holding company of MarkPlus Incorporated and MarkPlus Institute, he has played a pivotal role in shaping marketing practices across the region.
‘Kartajaya’s visionary contributions have earned him esteemed accolades, including recognition as one of the “50 Gurus Who Have Shaped the Future of Marketing” by the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2003 and the Distinguished Global Leadership Award from the Pan-Pacific Business Association at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2009,’ says Helen McIntee, AMC president.
‘To have Kartajaya join us will set the stage for a fantastic conference,’ McIntee adds. Kartajaya’s topic is Reimagining Operational Excellence – Inspirations from Asia, which is based on an upcoming book he is co-authoring.
Kartajaya has also been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement in Marketing Award from Jawa Pos, an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa in 2010) from ITS Surabaya and Honorary Fellowship Awards from the Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) and the Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM).
McIntee says that Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, President of the Asia Marketing Federation, who has published more than 75 articles in international and national journals as well as having written three major books on business management, has been in the teaching profession for 37 years. ‘Anwar’s vast experience as well as his work with A2I with focus on strategies for SMART Bangladesh and the application of 4IR technologies fits perfectly with the evolution of technology and its increasing influence on marketing,’ she adds.
Anwar will be addressing delegates on the important topic of “Building a Global Marketing Community: the role of unified associations in fostering a sense of community amongst marketers worldwide”.
Moreover, Fellow and President of the Zambia Institute of Marketing, Mwewa Besa, will be discussing “Financial Implications of Crossing Borders” ‘With more than 20 years of expertise in Academia, Marketing, Investment and Banking, Besa brings his international experience to bear when it comes to customer centricity, business transformation and cost containment,’ says McIntee.
This year’s AMC theme is Brand Resilience Amidst Economic Uncertainty. This year’s theme will offer detailed explorations into various brand resilience strategies that are sure to leave all in attendance with the knowledge and confidence they need to successfully spearhead their marketing efforts across the continent.
