Rudo Kwaramba-Kayombo named as ONE Campaign Africa Executive Director
Rudo Kwaramba-Kayombo has been appointed as Africa Executive Director for anti-poverty organisation ONE Campaign following an extensive search for a leader to spearhead the organisation’s Africa division.
Prior to joining ONE, Kwaramba-Kayombo was Director of Advocacy, Communications and Education with World Vision UK before being appointed as a Regional Director for Southern Africa for World Vision International, where she oversaw nine countries running diverse programmes that include advocacy, education, health, food security and emergencies response. She is a human rights lawyer by profession holding a law degree from the University of Zimbabwe and Masters of Arts in Public Policy Management from the University of York.
Kwaramba-Kayombo has served as an Executive Board Member for Zimbabwe Women in Law and Development in Africa; a trustee of the Gateway Trust, managing a Christian education group of schools in Harare; and has been a member of the Advisory Board for the UNDP Government of Zimbabwe Capacity Building Project on Conflict Transformation.
ONE CEO and President, Gayle Smith said, ‘We’re excited that Rudo has joined ONE and the organisation’s efforts in eradicating poverty. With over two decades of human rights, advocacy and development experience to build on, she is an ideal and able leader.’
Rudo Kwaramba-Kayombo said, ‘Having first come across ONE, then Data in 2005 when it was part of the coalition of CSOs that led the call to Make Poverty history, through increasing aid, debt cancellation and trade, I feel privileged to be part of the ONE family. I hope to lead ONE Africa in partnering with all who seek to rid Africa of the scourge of poverty and preventable diseases. It’s a fight I am fully committed to.’
