Lunch Bar 50th Birthday inspiration revealed #LunchBar50

In celebration of Lunch Bar’s 50th golden anniversary, the brand collaborated with the talented design entrepreneurs AfrikanSwiss and Skinny Sbu Socks to develop a Lunch Bar-inspired range. The limited edition clothing range, consisting of T-shirts and socks pays homage to young design trend-setters by celebrating and rewarding their talents. The Lunch Bar-inspired campaign launched in March 2015 when a live design stunt by AfrikanSwiss opened SA Fashion Week. From this point on it was ‘oviaas’ that much more inspiration was to follow when South African consumers were asked to join in the celebration by creating and posting their Lunch Bar-inspired designs to www.facebook.com/LunchBarSA, using the hashtag #LunchBar50.

To further drive the campaign consumers gathered at the Lunch Bar pop-up design activations held in Braamfontein and Johannesburg CBD in April. Here a Lunch Bar-Inspired Mini Cooper, sporting a fold out workstation, offered participants a space where they could let their creativity flow by capturing their designs straight onto blank t-shirts and socks.By submitting their designs, participants stood a chance of becoming one of the two consumers whose designs form part of the limited edition range consisting of 100 t-shirts across four unique designs and 100 pairs of socks across two designs. The talented winners, Gideon Monaise of Soweto Johannesburg for his ‘Oviaas’ T-shirt design and Kirsten Kearns of Kuilsrivier in Cape Town for her ‘feet of Africa’ sock design were each rewarded with R5000 in cash for their Lunch Bar-Inspired creations. In addition, Ntuki Mashili from Pretoria, won the main lucky draw prize of an AfrikanSwiss custom designed outfit valued at R7 000.

‘Each of the selected designs tell a Lunch Bar-inspired story, capturing not only the brand’s rich heritage and colours, but also reflecting the spirit of the fans who are ultimately the driving force behind this iconic, truly South African chocolate bar,’ said Meredith Kelly, Mondelez Category Lead for Chocolate. ‘We are grateful to all of those who shared their designs and talents with us and for being part of Lunch Bar’s 50th anniversary celebration with such enthusiasm.’

As a final reward, Lunch Bar will be giving away a number of limited edition Lunch Bar-inspired hampers valued at R500 each. These in-demand hampers will include a Lunch Bar-inspired AfrikanSwiss T-Shirt, a pair of Skinny Sbu Socks and delicious Lunch Bar chocolate. Plus one lucky winner will stand a chance of winning the bonus prize giveaway of a Lunch Bar-Inspired Fixin Diaries Bicycle valued at R6500.
