These are our Guardians of Print at The GAPP Awards 2024
The prestigious 2024 GAPP Awards black tie banquet dinner and awards ceremony was held at Emperors Palace Centre Court on 25th October, where there was a record of over 1000 guests in attendance. Winning captain of the Springboks at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, John Smit, took charge of the 23 metre stage as Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
In his opening speech Vikesh Roopchand, Managing Director of Sentient Publishing and Publisher of The GAPP, said: ‘Tonight is a celebration of our industry, it’s our attempt to grow our sector from within. It is an opportunity to showcase to the world what we can do. We come together not just to acknowledge individual accomplishments but to celebrate the collective spirit of innovation and collaboration that drives us all forward.’
He continued by thanking the sponsors of the competition, ‘Our sponsors are visionaries who believe in the potential and the future of this industry. They are driven by a commitment to foster innovation and growth reminding us that true investment goes beyond profit—it’s about creating lasting change and building a brighter tomorrow together. We commend your dedication to the growth of the industry you serve.’
He concluded, ‘I encourage each of you to celebrate not just the winners but the spirit of excellence that permeates here tonight. Let your applause be loud and your cheers be enthusiastic, for each recognition represents hard work and determination.’
