Mike Edwards leads Saab Grintek Defence Cape Town
Saab Grintek Defence, a local defence and security company, has appointed Mike Edwards as Head of Operations for the company’s Cape Town office, based in Muizenberg, South Africa. With a staff complement of approximately 60 employees, Edwards will oversee Saab Grintek Defence’s Cape Town operations, which specialise in next generation naval defence technology and solutions suited for local and international markets.
Edwards brings a wealth of experience in the defence industry, specifically relating to electronic warfare within the aviation and maritime sectors. He joined Saab Grintek Defence in April 2014 to build on the company’s naval product area after relocating from Linköping, Sweden, where he lived for nine years working on Gripen-related projects as part of the South African joint project team.
‘2019 is our year of focusing on naval electronic defence systems, and I look forward to working with the local team to increase production efficiencies to effectively execute the expected order intake from our customers, be it the South African Navy or other international customers,’ said Edwards.
