Inspired design from Brand inc for Orlando Pirates

The Orlando Pirates Football Club mantra for the current season is ‘The Spirit Never Dies’ and Brand inc Creative Group has taken that ethos and created top-end design for the new look and feel for the season, to be used on their website and in-stadium branding. Work began in July where the agency directed the photographic shoot with all the players and coaching staff in Johannesburg. ‘Each guy is shot individually and then we use the images for branding, profile and group pics on the website and stadium screen graphics,’ said Brand inc Art Director, Judd Quy.

‘It’s a hectic shoot but very enjoyable,’ he added. ‘You have roughly 30 guys who you are shooting one at a time in four to five poses per kit. It’s like school, they have to stand in line and wait and are all joking around until their turn and then it’s game-face-on. It’s always good fun.’ Brand inc has been working with the iconic football club since 2006 when it was first approached to design the hospitality tickets for its derby game against its arch rival, Kaizer Chiefs. The club loved the creative so much that it asked the agency to look at the stadium spaces that could be branded and adapt the creative accordingly. Brand inc took just a week to turn around all design elements and the relationship with one of South Africa’s biggest sporting brands was birthed.

For many, Orlando Pirates is more than just a football club or a brand; it is the players combined with their community that makes it legendary. Over the years, Brand inc has cultivated numerous creative solutions for the Buccaneers that are brimming with edgy and inspiring design work that reflect this unwavering passion. Whether it’s strategically branding the Pirates territory in stadiums, creating website and Facebook banners, awards dinner designs, or encapsulating the season’s theme for digital use, the work has always strived to harness the dedication of the fans and give them extra ownership of their club.

Inside the sporting industry arena, Brand inc has also been creatively involved with other sporting giants including the Springboks, SuperSport United, the Blue Bulls and the Nashua Titans, as well as the country’s most prestigious sporting events, including the Vodacom Tri-Nations, IRB Sevens, Vodacom Challenge, Jo’burg Golf Open, Vodacom Durban July, Friends of the President Golf events and more.
